The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) III assists the client toward maximum communication and cognitive abilities through diagnosis and treatment of speech/language deficits and instruction in compensatory memory and reasoning strategies. The SLP III collaborates with members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, the patient/family and community liaisons to assure that speech/language, swallowing and cognitive needs are addressed in order to improve outcomes and enhance patient satisfaction. The level III clinician will provide either (1) clinical expertise in a specialized area and act as a clinical resource for staff in a variety of other areas, or (2) coordination of the clinic itself, including assisting with supervision of staff, performance improvement and program development/implementation. Demonstration of flexibility and good communication skills are critical to optimal job performance.
4 + years of speech\language pathology experience with two of those years in related specialty area; other requirements vary by position.
Demonstrates significant participation in clinical education within specialty area, skill in program development, and competency in staff education.
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in Speech/Language Pathology.
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) issued by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) or CFY.
