East Tennessee State University seeks a proven academic leader to serve as the Department Chair for the new Rehabilitative Sciences Department. The department currently houses undergraduate and graduate programs in nutrition and a new bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitative Health Sciences. The Chair reports to the Dean of the College of Clinical and Rehabilitative Health Sciences and will provide leadership and department administration as well as participating as a full member of the faculty, with all relevant duties, responsibilities, and benefits. The chairperson provides vision for the department; advocates for the department’s needs; supports faculty members in their teaching, professional development, service, and intellectual contributions; oversees the departmental budget; and provides service and support to varied constituencies (college, university, and outside communities). The chair will play an integral role in the curriculum development process for existing and future academic programs. Doctoral degree required.
Professional license in one of the following disciplines: Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Communication Sciences, Rehabilitative Sciences, Nutrition, or a closely related field.
A minimum of 5 years of higher education experience.
Exemplary record of teaching, research, and service appropriate to the rank of associate or full professor.
Commitment to teaching, scholarship, and service that is consistent with the College’s priorities for the Department and the mission of the university.
History of demonstrating a collaborative administrative style of leadership, embracing shared governance, and building a culture of trust and confidence with faculty, staff, students, and administrators.
Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Eligible for professional licensure in his/her field in the state of Tennessee.
