Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC) is seeking a qualified Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Supervisor to work in our hospital-based setting. SCVMC has a nationally recognized Rehabilitation Center which specializes in the rehabilitation of patients with spinal cord, burn, and acquired brain injuries, and also provides services with a full range of acute care, intensive care, emergency and outpatient services. The SLP supervisor has direct supervisory responsibility for Speech-Language Pathologist Is and IIs, coordinates a designated service area(s), and independently performs complex patient care for all age groups that have speech and language needs.
Manages day-to-day operations of assigned service(s);
Supervises Speech-Language Pathologist Is, Speech-Language Pathologist IIs, Clinical Fellows, Therapy Technicians, students and volunteers;
Ensures that clinical competencies are completed for all personnel on assigned service(s) and staff compliance with department, hospital and County policies and procedures;
Leads the development and implementation of service policies, procedures, goals and objectives;
Possesses clinical expertise for patients with speech and language needs in two or more areas of clinical practice and performs complex patient evaluation and treatment with advanced skills in clinical reasoning, problem solving and treatment interventions in a hospital inpatient and outpatient setting;
Interprets and analyzes findings of speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disabilities to determine therapy diagnosis and prognosis;
Develops appropriate treatment plans that include specific treatment methods, duration and frequency of treatment and goals
Acts as a clinical resource to staff and a clinical liaison in specialty clinics
The ideal candidate will have a:
Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program. The knowledge and abilities typically acquired through at least three (3) years clinical experience and two or more specialty areas relevant to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. At least one year of supervisory experience with Clinical Fellows and Technicians.
Current valid license to practice in the state of California as a Speech-Language Pathologist from the Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
A valid license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist from the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board of California; and a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Sufficient education and experience to demonstrate the possession and application of the knowledge and abilities listed below.
