The Speech Clinic, Inc. is an established private practice,primarily serving New Castle County, Delaware, since 1987. The owners, John and Marie Azzara, are both SLPs who hire other SLPs, both experienced and those in need of CF supervision, primarily to work in the local public schools. We try to make every hire with a long-term outlook in mind, rather than hiring to "fill a gap" such as when a c...linician goes on maternity leave. Many of our clinicians, in fact, have been with the practice for over 15 years. We see clients of all ages and all communication disorders at our office(located about an equal distance from downtown Wilmington and from Newark, home of the University of Delaware) as well as at various other locations. We do a great deal of work with special needs pre-schoolers and school-aged students, including those on the Autism spectrum; however, we do have some contracts at which our clinicians work in a typical elementary school. Many of our clinicians have acquired a great deal of expertise working with augmentative communication systems. Others have more experience working with at-risk pre-schoolers and their families. Still other clinicians have acquired a great deal of expertise in fluency disorders, Autism, and/or social/pragmatic language disorders. Starting salary is 62,000. for bilingual SLPs with at least one year experience as a bilingual SLP; salary for "regular" SLP positions begin at $53,000. for the CF; Clinical Supervision is readily available. Benefits include 100% employer contribution of the premium for medical coverage, paid leave for national holidays, 6 paid personal days per year, and a minimum of 5 weeks paid vacation annually. The monthly premium for our medical plan with BC/BS of Delaware is covered for all employees at 100%. You read that correctly. At a time when school and hospital-based SLPs are being asked to pay ever increasing amounts into their health care coverage, we continue to provide full coverage for all participating employees; no money is withheld from paychecks to help pay for our employee's medical premiums. Leave is granted and fees are paid by the practice for professional workshops attended. Whenever one of our SLPs attends a professional development workshop, the information is shared with all of our other staff shortly thereafter. All mandatory professional fees, including ASHA and DSHA dues, are paid by the practice. Pension plan is offered to employees after 2 years with the practice. This includes an employer match of up to 3% of employee contribution, as well as the ability of employee to put up to $12,500. annually into the tax-deferred plan.
