The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Nazareth College is seeking applicants with a PhD in audiology (ABD considered) who are interested in joining our faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor. This is a tenure-track, nine-month full-time position beginning August, 2018. Qualified applicants will also be eligible for New York State licensure and ASHA CCC-A. Prior experience with teaching and/or supervision is highly valued.
Responsibilities will include: undergraduate and graduate teaching and audiology clinical supervision; mentoring and advising undergraduate students; engagement in service at the College and departmental levels; and pursuit of creative and scholarly work, with an emphasis on community engagement and student involvement. Summer teaching is encouraged.
The Nazareth CSD Department comprises undergraduate and graduate programs in speech-language pathology. At the undergraduate level, we offer a 30 credit pre-audiology minor for students interested in audiology, especially those planning to apply to Au.D. programs. This minor is open to CSD majors as well as students from other departments. In the graduate speech-language pathology program, students have the option of pursuing specialty certification in providing speech-language services for individuals who are deaf/hard-of-hearing. The department has 220+ students (81 graduate students), 13 FT faculty, and is housed in a state-of-the-art facility which includes our Speech and Language Clinic; Neurogenic Communication and Cognition Clinic; and Audiology Clinic. We have a fully functioning diagnostic audiology clinic including OAE and ABR instrumentation. Our on-campus and off-campus clinical outreach programs, including a very active preschool and school age hearing screening program, provide more than 20,000 hours of service in the community annually. Interprofessional collaboration and education are hallmarks of Nazareth College; our on-campus clinics are located in the York Wellness and Rehabilitation Institute, a facility that also houses physical therapy, occupational therapy, and creative arts therapy clinics.
