The Supervisor of Speech-Language Pathologists and Child Find Services has primary responsibility of overseeing FCPS provides oversight for Speech-Language Pathologists, along with Child Find programs associated with pre-school and parentally placed private school students. This includes, but is not limited to, serving as a resource to speech-language pathologists, school based and central office staff and administrators, community members and outside agency representatives. This individual acts as a resource to speech-language pathologists, classroom teachers, and other staff/related service providers. This supervisor also implements and evaluates speech-language programs and monitors program effectiveness, evaluates instructional personnel, performs community relations duties, and performs general administrative functions. This individual also oversees the FCPS preschool and school-aged Child Find programs and monitors special education pre-kindergarten enrollment and programming.
Master’s degree in speech-language pathology.
Maryland licensure in Speech and Language Pathology from the Department of Health & Mental Hygiene.
Certification by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association in the area of speech-language pathology.
Five years successful teaching experience in a special education area.
Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
Demonstrated supervisory, leadership and organizational skills.
Knowledge of local, state and national compliance regulations, laws, processes and best practices, regulating special education, early intervention and related services.
Capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Regular and predictable attendance.
Demonstrated success in supervisory or leadership experiences.
Eligible for an Administrator I endorsement issued on a MD Advanced Professional certificate.
Experience as IEP Team chairperson.
Knowledge of federal laws and guidelines pertaining to the provision of special education services.
Experience designing and providing professional learning activities.
