Job Description
The Chair teaches the equivalent of two courses per semester in the fall and spring, with summer teaching optional; serves as administrator for faculty, staff and students; serves as graduate program coordinator; facilitates faculty research productivity including his/her own research; engages in strategic planning with the faculty; manages the department budget; supervises graduate student research; serves as an academic advisor to students; and facilitates accreditation reports and processes. The Chair is the liaison between the department and the university administration as well as the community. This involves membership on standing and ad hoc committees as well as expected representation on behalf of the department at a variety of departmental, college, university and community events.


Requirements

Earned doctorate in communication disorders; certificate of clinical competence in speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP); eligible for Missouri licensure in speech-language pathology; demonstrated commitment to working with multicultural populations and awareness of issues affecting women and minorities; ability to teach courses in adult communication disorders or other areas of expertise; strong interpersonal skills; record of high quality teaching and scholarly work; minimum five years experience in higher education; commitment to collegiality, and commitment to the teacher-scholar model.
